Introduction to several different types of micro DC motors

2024-06-28

Micro DC motors are used in various fields, such as household appliances, smart homes, electronic door locks, beauty products, etc. Different types of DC motors are used in different applications. Vibration motors are used for massage functions, and micro gear reduction motors are used for driving large loads. In addition to vibration motors and reduction motors, what other types of micro DC motors are there?

DC motors can be roughly divided into four categories, permanent magnet inverter DC motors, servo motors, two-phase low-voltage motors, and stepper motors.

▍Permanent magnet inverter DC motor

That is, brushed DC motors, which are very simple in design and widely used, such as electronic locks, electric toys, robots, beauty instruments and other products. When the rated DC voltage is applied to the micro motor, the speed is equal, which can be encountered in some fixed speed electronic products. It can also be used for drive devices with a wide speed range, such as toy racing cars, model airplanes, etc. It can greatly enhance the performance of micro motors with the help of electronic control circuits.

▍Servo motor

The biggest feature of servo motor is controllability. It is an actuator in automatic devices. It can rotate only when there is a control model motor. The speed is proportional to the control voltage. If the control signal voltage is lost, the servo motor will stop rotating immediately. Servo motors are also widely used and are used in almost all automatic control systems.

▍Stepper motor

The stepper motor plus an appropriate sequence of pulses can make the micromotor spindle rotate a precise angle. As long as the appropriate pulse sequence is applied, the micromotor can rotate continuously at a predetermined speed or direction. The stepper motor is easy to control with a microprocessor or driver integrated circuit. It is generally used in fields that require precise measurement of angle rotation, such as robot arm movement, printer head control, etc.

▍Two-phase low-voltage motor

This type of motor is usually powered by a low-frequency oscillator with a DC power supply, and then driven by a low-frequency and low-voltage motor. This type of motor is occasionally used in turntable drive mechanisms.
