What are the commonly used DC motors for micro gear reducers?

2024-07-13

Micro reduction motors can provide large torque output and are widely used in various electric products. So what types of DC motors can micro gear reducers match?

Generally, there are DC brushless motors, brushed DC motors, stepper motors, hollow cup motors, etc. as drive motors. DC motors have small specifications, low voltage, low energy consumption, and high output speed.

1. Brushless DC motor

Refers to a DC motor without brushes and commutators. In addition to the motor armature and permanent magnet parts, it also has a Hall sensor. This DC motor has low noise, high speed, and long service life, but high cost and complex control method;

2. Brushed DC motor

A brushed DC motor is a motor with a brush device and a commutator. The brush is used to introduce or lead out DC voltage and current. Brushed DC reduction motors have the advantages of fast starting, smooth speed regulation, simple control method and low cost. The basic structural components of brushed DC motors include stators, rotors, brushes and commutators. The interaction between the stator and rotor magnetic fields drives the DC motor to rotate. The stator magnetic field of the DC motor is generated by magnets or stator windings;

3. Stepper motors

Stepper motors are DC motors that convert electrical pulse signals into corresponding angular displacements. When a pulse signal is input, the rotor will rotate an angle. The output angular displacement is proportional to the number of input pulses, and the speed is proportional to the pulse frequency. The biggest difference between stepper motors and other DC motor controls is that it receives digital control signals and converts them into angular displacements. It can be open-loop position control. Inputting a pulse signal can obtain a specified position increment. The incremental position control system has a significantly lower cost than the transmission DC control.

4. Coreless motors

Hollow DC motors are small in size, light in weight, high in precision, high in efficiency, and have outstanding energy-saving and stable characteristics. In terms of structure, they break through the rotor structure of traditional DC motors and adopt coreless rotors. Because the rotor is similar to a cup, it is also called a hollow cup rotor. The hollow cup rotor completely eliminates the loss caused by the eddy current formed by the traditional iron core rotor. Hollow cup motors can also be divided into two types: brushless and brushed. The rotor of the brushless hollow cup motor has no iron core, and the stator of the brushless hollow cup motor has no iron core.

The micro reduction motor driven by a brushed DC motor is called a brushed reduction motor, and the hollow cup drive is a hollow cup reduction motor. The performance, parameters, and uses of different drive DC motors are different. The above are the commonly used DC motors for micro gear reducers.
