How should brushed and brushless motors be wired?

2024-09-10

1、Wiring method of brushed motor

Brushed motors generally have positive and negative leads. Generally the red wire is the positive pole of the motor, and the black wire is the negative plate of the motor. If the positive and negative poles are exchanged for wiring, it will only make the motor reverse, and generally will not damage the motor.

2.How to wire a brushless motor

Brushless motor has 3 coil leads and 5 hall leads, these 8 wires must correspond one by one with the corresponding leads of the controller, otherwise the motor cannot rotate normally.

Generally speaking, brushless motors with 60 degree and 120 degree phase angle need to be driven by brushless controllers with corresponding 60 degree and 120 degree phase angles, and the controllers of the two phase angles cannot be directly interchanged. There are two kinds of correct wiring for the 8 wires connecting brushless motors with 60 degree phase angle and 60 degree phase angle controllers, one is forward rotation, and the other is reverse rotation.

Because for the 120 degree phase angle brushless motor, by adjusting the phase sequence of the coil leads and the phase sequence of the hall leads, the correct wiring of the 8 wires connected to the motor and the controller can be 6 types, 3 of which are connected to the motor positive rotation, and the other 3 are connected to the motor reversal.

If the brushless motor reverses, it shows that the phase angles of the brushless controller and the brushless motor are matched, and we can adjust the steering of the motor in this way: exchange the wiring of A and C of the Hall leads of the brushless motor and the brushless controller; at the same time, exchange the wiring of A and B of the main phase leads of the brushless motor and the brushless controller.
